Q.) I have already done the  1st inspection with the energy advisor, can you insulate my home to meet the grant requirement of R50?
A.) Absolutely! This is our business, We will need to know a few things about your home (size, age) and which areas you would like to insulate (Attic, walls, basement) and we will go ahead and quote you based on your needs.

Q.) How does this insulation install work and how long does it take?
A.) 3 different types of installs are available, the most common is attics as most of the exchange in temp occurs there. Attics are insulated mainly by blowing in Cellulose insulation due to its characteristics of getting into every pocket in the attic and giving it a complete blanket. From start to finish an attic generally takes about  4-6 hours to complete. Insulation to walls and basements take a more custom approach as every home is different and needs to be taken on as such.

Q.) What about my basement? How does insulation get added to bare walls?
A.) Currently the grant for the basement is set to $2500 dollars, which is  great as insulating a basement is the first step in completing your basement. We do all the framing as well as install insulation bats (either fibreglass or stone wool ) so that your next stage would just be drywall and carpet/tile!

Q.) Can i really have all my insulation done for no charge?
A.) Most definitely! In most cases, the home owner generally makes money! Lets take this for example, you  have a 2000sq/ft 2 story home built in 1975 with an R value of 12. The grant is set at $1500 to top up the insulation to R50. We charge $1250 for a 1000sq/ft attic  to get R12 to R50! The grant is $3750 for exterior walls, and basements $2500. In 98% of  cases, we charge the same or less than what the grant offers!

Q.) When does this program end
A.) March 2011, until the govt decides to extend it or runs out of funding.

Q.) How much money will i save on my energy bill
A.) It really depends on the condition of your home and what areas you are insulating, a home that is 5 years old that is just only getting a top up in attic insulation can expect to drop their thermostat by 1-2 degrees saving $10 -$15 dollars a month. A home that is 20 years old that is getting the walls, basement and attic done will see savings of up to $100 a month.
